County hires economic development specialist

Bringing a wealth of local government experience and economic development enthusiasm, Monique Wilkins has been selected to fill the Economic Development Specialist position within Franklin County’s Economic Development Department.

“I’m honored to be joining the Franklin County Government team,” Wilkins said. “This exciting new opportunity will allow me to work with businesses and municipalities across the county, while also providing a great chance to expand my skill set.”

Wilkins comes to Franklin County having served the Town of Louisburg in many capacities for more than a decade. She has most recently served as Economic Development Coordinator for the town where she was successful securing multiple grants and projects to bolster economic and community development efforts.  Before working for the Town of Louisburg, Wilkins worked for Branch Banking & Trust as a Relationship Banker and Teller Supervisor.

“I am excited about the enthusiasm and skillset that Monique brings to our Economic Development team,” said Franklin County Economic Development Director Richie Duncan.

She has a bachelor’s degree in technology from North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University where she studied graphic communications systems and integrated internet technology. She also is actively working on becoming a Certified Economic Developer through East Carolina University and has a certification in Municipal and County Administration from the UNC School of Government.
